Magpie Magpie is a line of clothing and accessories by designer and owner, Julie Punelli. Her house name Magpie stems from that fashionable little birdie that, like Julie, can always be spotted with random and extremely lovely little objects. Magpies are known for their attraction and ability to find shiny objects that are cast off into nature and forgotten about. Julie is known for discovering these gems, and her line is constructed from repurposed materials that only a true magpie would find. Around Vitae Julie is known as Mary Poppins, always pulling something unexpected out of her larger than life bag.... Oh, did you need a miniature Chinese pagoda, Erin? Have no fear; she’s been lugging one around for days. Tylenol? Ostrich feather boa? A cheeseburger? Don’t worry...it’s in the bag. One of Julie’s custom dresses got much attention and press during the Inaugural Ball this year when she created a glam little number out of her clients favorite Obama T-shirt. She’ll definitely have you thinking twice about getting rid of any piece of fabric. Julie can make a show stopping evening dress out of a table cloth (and she did). Any one of her gowns would make an Oscar winning actress wonder why she didn’t keep Great Aunt Mildred’s curtains and just give them to Julie to do what she does so naturally. Julie’s style of design is of Wonder Woman-esque quality. It can range from the most feminine silhouettes of the 1930’s and 40’s to sexy urbane gowns, with a more ghostly and indistinct inspiration. But whatever the inspiration may be, it is always timeless. Her strength is in her true understanding of a woman’s form, plain and ...not always so simple. Julie creates the most jaw- dropping- to- the- floor-AAA-OOOGAAHH- original garments. Her fashionable wears are oh so imaginative and adventurous. Never a dull moment when slipping into one of her dresses or tops, she innovatively constructs a one- of- a -kind way for you to figure out how to put it on.... “Just loop the sash into the bow that ties around your waist, that starts at your shoulder...but that’s just one way to do it...” Just like her line, Julie is sharp, witty, smart and flirty...Oh Boy! The lady is not only an exceptional designer, but also the most giving, caring, and thoughtful individual that you should be so lucky to meet.
